Protecting yourself from diseases that are transmitted through unprotected sex is not that difficult. Abstinence or the avoidance of having sex with someone is the best way to prevent these diseases. Many people feel that practicing safe sex diminishes the sensuality of sex but there might be some issues they need to know first especially when it comes to STDs.
The first step is to identify a person who has STD. Most often, people with STDs are feverish and weak. Although they may look healthy but they may tell you that they are free of the disease, it is much better that you educate yourself in identifying a person with STD. STDs are sexually transmitted diseases. There are many different forms of STDs such as gonorrhea, herpes, genital warts, and the list goes on and on. Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease that you can catch from any form of sex. This infection can spread by contact with a mouth, penis, vagina, or the anus. This bacteria grows in moist, warm parts of the body such as the urethra, fallopian tubes, uterus, and the cervix.
When someone is diagnosed with any STD the two things that they must do is: get treated for the disease, and inform any sexually partners of your diagnosis so that they can be tested and treated if they have it. There are ways to avoid catching any of these STDs. Using a condom when having sex is very important and can keep you from catching one of them. A Sexually Transmitted Disease, also known as an “STD”, is an infection that is transmitted between two or more individuals usually during a sexual act or some other exchange of bodily fluids. It is estimated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) that more than 50% of all people will contract a Sexually Transmitted Disease in their lifetime.
Once called venereal diseases, STDs are among the most common infectious diseases in the United States today. It is the sharing of blood or other bodily fluids that allows the infection to be transmitted from one person to another. More than 20 STDs have now been identified including the following most commonly transmitted diseases:
HIV / AIDS – HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) is a viral infection that can eventually lead to AIDS (Auto Immune Deficiency Syndrome). Once a person has been infected with HIV, this virus attacks the body’s immune system, killing the CD4 Cells (also known as the T-helper cells) which normally help to fight invading organisms and disease. When an infected person’s immune system is effectively destroyed by HIV, he or she develops AIDS. Continue reading ‘Most Common STDs’ »

1. What and how it affects:
Today the world is facing a most serious challenge which is no less than the nuclear war is the fatal disease called AIDS. The expanded form reads as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. The virus responsible for the disease is known as Human Immunodeficiency Virus or in short HIV. By nature, every body has its own defense mechanism that is immunity. AS a result, the affected person becomes very much susceptible to various other diseases which other wise could have been avoided but because of absence of self defense system the affected person gets the common ailments very easily. This is called the secondary infection and it becomes the cause of the death f the patient and the AIDS virus becomes indirectly responsible the death.

1. WHAT ARE SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASES (STDS)?
Sexually transmitted diseases are diseases that can be passed from person to person through sexual contact. In this case sexual contact means penis-vagina penetration, oral sex which is sexual contact using the mouth, and insertion of the penis into the rectum which is anal sex. Some of these diseases may be transmitted by exchange of sexual fluids such as semen or vaginal discharge. Some of the STD’s result in open sores, and it can be spread by contact with skin of someone else. There are also ways to transmit these diseases in a non sexual way, an infected pregnant woman can either give it to her baby during pregnancy, or when the baby is being delivered. Drug abusers can transmit the disease through sharing hypodermic needles that have been used by an infected person. The seriousness of STD’s varies, some are cured easily by drugs, others need a combination of treatments and drugs, whilst others have no cure, and the only option is treatment.

Yet we still have unprotected sex, and we still share dirty needles. Come on! Granted, HIV/AIDS will never be a thing of the past, but we can do better in making the condition less common.
