One of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, chlamydia is a bacterial infection that is caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. It may show symptoms such as pelvic pain, genital inflammation and discharge or show no symptoms at all. It can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease if left untreated or infertility. Some strains of the bacteria can cause eye disease or pneumonia. The three types of chlamedia include C. Trachomatis, C. Psittaci and C. Pneumoniae. Treatment for chlamydia is successfully done with antibiotics or naturally with homeopathic remedies.
The organism is reliant upon human hosts for energy as it is unable to produce energy itself. C. Trachomatis can cause urinary and genital tract infections in sexually active women and men. It can be transmitted during oral, anal or vaginal sex. It can be passed from mother to baby during a vaginal birth. Unprotected sex with multiple partners are the people who are at the highest risk.
Painful intercourse, lower back and abdominal pain and spotting between periods are all symptoms that have been noted. Woman have said they have experienced rectal pain, symptoms of PID, burning when urinating and vaginal discharge. Some people have no symptoms and don’t know they even have it. When it is contracted orally, throat infections, redness and swelling of the tonsils can occur. Urine tests or specimens from the cervix or penis are how it is diagnosed. It is said that the best way to prevent contracting a sexually transmitted disease is to avoid sex. Yet, many people will not choose that option. Even though people are not abstinent, that does not mean they cannot prevent themselves from contracting sexually transmitted diseases.
It is necessary to practice safe sex. This is done by using protection like condoms that can act as protective barriers. Condoms are only effective if used consistently. If you use condoms most of the time, but not all the time, you are still putting yourself at risk some of the time. Continue reading ‘How To Avoid Getting an STD’ »

The most surefire way to prevent getting a sexually transmitted disease is to just abstain forever. But that is not a realistic solution and not one that many people would prefer. So, instead, it is better to try to practice safe sex to keep yourself protected from sexually transmitted diseases like gonorrhea, syphilis, AIDS, and herpes. Any number of these diseases you are susceptible to if you are not practicing safe sex, and once you have the disease, you are then at risk of passing it along to anyone with whom you come into physical sexual contact as well as unborn children, if you are a woman.
Usually these diseases are passed from bodily fluids, just as AIDS, and so when you have intercourse, the exchanged fluids can transfer to the body and can infect the other person. Often, it is a hit or miss ordeal and someone may or may not contract it from the other person, though rigorous testing must be performed to determine it. One way to protect yourself can be with a condom, though that is a tentative solution with many risks. Though a condom does serve not to exchange bodily fluids, it can still break or tear during intercourse and then spread AIDS or other disease regardless. A condom is only somewhat effective against some diseases and really not a protective measure against most. However, if you know that you have a sexually transmitted disease and you are going to have sex with someone, it is important to wear a condom or to encourage your partner to wear one. The rate of sexually transmitted diseases is on the rise. There are many people that are uninformed on the subject of sexually transmitted diseases, which leaves the problem even more disastrous because they are not able to recognize the warning signs of these diseases and infections and risk spreading them to other people without knowing. The most dangerous thing about a sexually transmitted disease, or STD, is misinformation. May people still believe that you can get an STD from a door handle or a toilet seat but do not know what the symptoms are or what to do if they actually contract one of these sometimes deadly diseases. One of the best things that you can do is learn as much as you can about these diseases and protect yourself so you never have to ask, “how do I know if I have an STD?”
Sexually transmitted diseases, or STD’s are infections of the body that are caused by parasites, bacteria, and viruses. These infections are transmitted mainly through sexual contact, although there are other ways to contract them. These diseases are also passed by blood-to-blood contact by sharing needles for drugs, body piercings, tattoos, child birth, or even breast feeding. Since these diseases can be deadly, it is important to learn about the diseases, how to protect yourself, and how to identify symptoms of the disease so you can get early treatment if you do become infected. One of the biggest dangers in today’s society is the threat that STD’s pose to people. Sexually transmitted diseases are some of the most harmful and life threatening diseases that a person can get, so it is important to get some information to protect yourself and the people around you. The first thing that you should do is research these sexually transmitted diseases so you can answer questions like “can you get STD’s from a toilet seat of towel?”
The first thing that you should know about a sexually transmitted disease is that it is an illness that is transmitted sexually between humans. That means, for the most part, that you have to have sexual intercourse with a person that has an STD to get one. These diseases are also called sexually transmitted infections to be a little broader. There are very few other ways that you can get an STD from a person but other ways include, drug needles, passing the disease to a child through childbirth, and even breastfeeding. Oral (Herpes can be transferred by kissing) and anal sex is also ways to get STD’s. The organisms that cause these diseases are not very tolerant of environments beside the human body, which means that most of them will be destroyed when they are not in the body. Therefore, the answer to the question “can you get STD’s from a toilet seat or towel?” is: most likely no. There are a few of these infections that could possibly be transmitted through a towel or seat and include crabs and scabies. The risk of getting these from either a toilet seat or a towel is very minimal. Continue reading ‘Can You Get STD’s From a Toilet Seat or Towel?’ »

Sexually active individuals or those who engage in sexual relationships with different partners are in a high risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases. The severity ranges from minor ones which are more responsive to medication thus are easily curable and the graver life-threatening STDs that had manifested recently and still in the process of more intensive research. In the last decades, STDs are popularly known as venereal diseases and thought to b transmitted exclusively by individuals in the sex trade. At present, contaminated or infected needles or items shared can be a culprit in the spread of this disease. An unborn infant can acquire it from his or her infected mother. Thus the urgent need of intensive information campaign about this dreaded social disease is sorely needed. Each one must be extra careful when engaging in any sexual relationship aside from their husband, wife or live in partner.
Most common STDs are Chlamydia, Trichomoniasis, Genital Herpes and Warts, Gonorrhea, Hepatitis B and Syphilis. They are either viral or bacterial infections affecting men or women. Some of them can be easily cured by medication; others have no known cure and there are cases of carriers in which they don’t exhibit any signs but they can unknowingly infect their partners. Most people who had acquired this disease kept it to themselves to avoid any repercussions affecting their family and their daily interactions with other people. Their indiscretions and bad judgment with regards to their sexual activities is a matter to be ashamed of. Eventually, information about the secrecy of doctor-patient relationship must be instilled in their minds so they won’t hesitate to consult a doctor if it so happen they acquire this disease. Sexually transmitted diseases, (also called STD’s) are health problems that do just as the title describes: transmitted in some sort of sexual way.
